Aimee Perez (escultora y ceramista) aparecio abruptamente hace no mas de dos años en el area de Bird Road Art District abriendo su primer studio en esta localidad, recien llegada al area me invito a participar en una pequeña muestra en dicho studio, de esta forma pude conocer de cerca su trabajo y les confieso que me sorprendio la fuerza que le trasmitia a sus piezas y la yuxtaposicion en las mismas con elementos desechados, los cuales ella los integra a sus esculturas produciendo una organicidad, la cual nos hace pensar en un todo organico el cual produce una simbiosis, donde el elemento sustraido de la realidad desechada se integra a la creacion de Aimee para producir una poderosa pieza de arte. Por todo lo anterior deseo compartir con mis amigos esta pieza de mi vecina y colega Aimee Perez.

Art is emotion materialized, and a great artist is able to take her emotions and capture them in the pieces she creates in such a way that the pieces project the emotion to the viewer. Such are Aimee Perez’ sculptures. Her pieces, whether whimsical or serious, never fail to evoke an emotion. I have been collecting art for years, and my favorite pieces are those that give me pleasure and challenge me every time I look at them. This is what drew me to Aimee’s sculptures. As the owner of two of her pieces, they are among my favorites for that very reason. Aside from Aimee’s raw ability to mold clay, the emotion with which she imbues her pieces affect me every time I look at them. Her pieces are so much more than beautiful art – if you acquire one, it will be the beginning of an emotional relationship.

I have been an artist for over fifty years. Working in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media…metal and ceramic sculpture. Instructor of watercolor and acrylic paint for seven years and a judge at several art shows. The first time I saw Aimee Perez’s sculptures I was blown away. Her originality and mastery of glazes and other techniques demonstrate the work of a master sculptor. Her body of work brings out a defining moment with the viewer to explore every facet and color of each piece. I was so taken with her work that I arranged for my wife and I to see her work again. We purchased two pieces and enjoy looking at them daily in our home. I highly recommend this very talented and imaginative artist to anyone who appreciates fabulous sculptures.

I bought a beautiful sculpture entitled The Four Musicians and I absolutely love it. I told a designer who was at my house and admiring the piece that it was created by a local artist. She say ” Oh! I thought you had brought it back from your travels., it occupies a special spot In our dining room.

Aimee Perez is a passionate sculptor who beautifully captures the idea and emotions of the subject she is working to create. Her boundless energy and organization allows her to follow through from her idea to completion with endless attention to detail. She does not take the easy way out, but rather always follows through to a creative and technically perfected piece of art. She has won awards by national judges for her work.
Aimee Perez (Habana, 1955) has found herself artistically squeezing out the secrets of clay as well as reining in the consummating heat of the oven to create a series of compelling feminine heads that explore -with the unconfessed marksmanship of self-portraiture- the uneasy flow of the human soul. Her pieces include ceramic, other materials, even found objects. The plinth is incorporated into the work of art as well. But the heavy duty-die hard meaning springs from those textured and imaginatively colored faces that speak to us directly and obliquely at the same time with the warmth of whites, ochres, siennas, deep browns, the rough skin of the earth and the immediacy of sorrow or frailty. Her command of the craft, her personal style and her capacity to communicate and earn the viewer’s empathy, explain her growing success.
